Overview

The Advanced Certificate in Intelligence Studies & Public Policy (ISPP) is Sri Lanka’s first-ever academic program in intelligence studies, designed to equip professionals, policymakers, and researchers with a deep understanding of intelligence and its role in governance and national security. This three-month hybrid program offers a unique interdisciplinary approach, blending intelligence analysis with public policy to address contemporary security challenges.

Through expert-led sessions, participants explore how intelligence shapes policymaking and global security, developing skills essential for strategic foresight and governance.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the Role of Intelligence in Governance: Explain how intelligence informs policymaking, shapes governance structures, and influences statecraft at both national and international levels.
  • Analyze Decision-Making Processes: Critically assess intelligence-driven decisionmaking processes and evaluate their impact on public policy and national security.
  • Apply Structured Analytical Techniques: Utilize structured analytic methods and strategic foresight to interpret complex intelligence data and forecast policy implications.
  • Manage Crisis Situations: Develop and implement crisis management strategies supported by timely and accurate intelligence insights.
  • Integrate Emerging Technologies: Analyze the impact of emerging technologies – such as artificial intelligence and big data analytics- on intelligence practices and global security dynamics.
