6-Week Online Micro-Credential for Modern Leaders

Introduction

This six-week micro-credential develops core leadership skills for the digital era. It blends conceptual frameworks, Sri Lankan and international examples, and applied exercises so participants can lead hybrid teams, design and implement digital transformation initiatives, and make ethical, data-informed decisions. By the end of the course participants will have a practical action plan they can apply immediately in their organisations.


Course overview

  • Week 1 — What it Means to Be a Leader in the Digital Age
    Introduction to digital leadership: role shifts, competencies, and the leader’s mindset in technology-rich organisations.

  • Week 2 — Digital Leadership Foundations
    Core capabilities — agility, digital fluency, remote influence, and adaptive decision-making.

  • Week 3 — Leading Virtual & Hybrid Teams
    Best practices for building trust, engagement and performance remotely; communication and collaboration techniques.

  • Week 4 — Driving Innovation & Digital Transformation
    Change leadership for digital projects: stakeholder engagement, practical steps to launch and scale transformation initiatives.

  • Week 5 — Ethical, Inclusive & Data-Driven Leadership
    Frameworks for ethical technology use (AI, privacy, fairness), inclusive leadership practices and basic applied data literacy for decision-making.

  • Week 6 — Synthesis & Strategic Networking
    Participant presentations, course synthesis, peer feedback and facilitated networking to turn learning into action.


Assignments

  • Weekly applied tasks: Short, practice-focused assignments after each session (e.g., team communication audit, stakeholder mapping, mini-experiments). Tasks are developed each week with facilitator feedback.

  • In-class short quiz: A brief quiz or poll at the end of each live session to check understanding of that week’s core concepts.

Delivery format

  • Duration: Six weeks (one session per week).

  • Session length: 2 hoursInteractive lecture (60 min) + group discussions / applied exercises (60 min).

  • Schedule: Wednesdays, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Sri Lanka time).

  • Mode: Fully online — live workshops via Google Meet (recordings and materials shared with registered participants).

  • Technical requirements: Stable internet connection, webcam and microphone, ability to access Google Meet and shared documents.


Learning outcomes

On successful completion participants will be able to:

  • Describe the competencies of digital leadership and assess readiness in their context.

  • Lead and manage hybrid and virtual teams with practices that enhance trust and productivity.

  • Design a simple, implementable digital transformation initiative with stakeholder alignment and sequencing.

  • Apply ethical frameworks to decisions involving AI, data and digital systems.

  • Interpret basic analytics to support evidence-based leadership choices and measure impact.


Assessment & credential

  • Assessment: Weekly participation and completion of short quizzes.

  • Credential: Participants who meet completion requirements will receive a BALPP micro-credential certificate suitable for LinkedIn and professional portfolios.
